Half-Frame Photography is a Vibe.

Unveiling the Charm of Half-Frame Photography!

I recently acquired an Olympus Pen-FT from the New York Camera Store of Princeton, marking the beginning of my photographic journey in 2024. This half-frame camera, destined to be my signature style for the year, boasts a design reminiscent of a rangefinder, exuding a robust build and delivering exceptional photo quality.

Diverging from the standard 35mm frames measuring 36mm x 24mm, the Pen-FT's unique feature splits the image vertically, generating two 24mm x 18mm images for every traditional 35mm frame. This distinctive format opens up creative possibilities and adds a touch of novelty to my photographic endeavors.

My encounter with this captivating camera unfolded unexpectedly during a visit to the New York Camera Store of Princeton. Initially there to procure film for an upcoming wedding, my attention was diverted when a sophisticated lady entered the store. She carried with her a substantial box filled with an array of photography treasures, remnants of her late father's passion for the art. Despite the melancholy surrounding her father's recent passing, I found myself irresistibly drawn to explore the photographic gems she had brought into the store. After all, we were in a haven dedicated to the world of cameras and imagery.  The experience underscored the notion that acquiring a used camera is often about being in the right place at the right time, and on that day, fortune favored me. I am genuinely excited about delving into this new-to-me format and look forward to the creative opportunities it presents. Below, I share a series of photos from my initial rolls of film. I hope you enjoy the journey!
